Summertime temps, plenty of sunshine remain in Gillette’s forecast
GILLETTE, Wyo. — The sun will keep shining on Gillette today and through the weekend as high pressure remains seated over the area. Today will see a high of 85 under sunny skies. That will be accompanied by a northwest wind at 8–11 mph and gusts of up to 17 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. Tonight will see a low near 50 with mostly clear skies.
Additional siren testing scheduled for Thursday and Friday, county says
GILLETTE, Wyo. — After a routine siren failed to activate last week, additional sirens will sound this week as operators work to determine the cause of the failure. Testing will occur on Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, according to a post on the Campbell County Government Facebook page. The post also noted the sirens would be played in short bursts and would be audible to anyone outdoors at the time.
Gillette mayor credits local economic, community atmosphere as driving factors in city’s population growth
GILLETTE, Wyo. — Wyoming might be the smallest state in the union by population, but that population has been growing in recent years. Data from the state’s Economic Analysis Division show the state added more than 7,200 residents since April 1, 2020, rising to 584,057 as of July 1, 2023, the latest year for which the data is available. Between 2022 and 2023, the state added 2,428 residents.

That’s the forecast for Gillette today as well, with a high of 83 expected. A 7 mph breeze is forecast from the west with gusts of up to 15 mph possible. Tonight will be clear with a low near 57.
