Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame Celebrates its 14th Induction Class The Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame Celebrated its 2024 10 Member Induction Class with a sold-out crowd at the Monroe Convention Center Friday Night in Downtown Bloomington. Since 2011 Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame has inducted 147 Athletes, Coaches, Contributors and Humanitarians and all 14 plaques hang in Fountain Square Mall in Downtown Bloomington. Six Scholarship Athlete Award Winners were honored in separate ceremony in June with a $1,000 Scholarship as One Female and One Male from Bloomington North, Bloomington South and Edgewood High Schools are honored. Since 2011 $ 72,000 dollars has been given to 87 scholarship award winners. Annalise Coyne from Bloomington South and Hadley Lucas from Bloomington North were in attendance with their families. Coyne will attend Purdue University along with Riley Haskett and Joshua Kohne of Edgewood HS. Lucas is headed to the University of Wisconsin for Track and Field. Jaidyn Johnson from Bloomington North is headed to the University of Louisville for Track and Field and Ryan Rheam from Bloomington South is already at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York along with his brother.
New Mixed-Use Development in Plainfield Promising 1,000 Jobs
A new development that features retail, apartments and senior housing is coming to Plainfield. Isaac Bamgbose, the founder of New City Development Partners, says his firm wanted to bring the new Hobbs Station development to Plainfield to drive more economic growth in the area. Patriot Park playground removal begins July 22, 2024

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has announced that removal of the Patriot Park Playground will begin starting the week of July 22nd. The current playground which was originally built in 2002, will be removed, except for the swings. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the week. All demolition work is weather permitting.

Multiple People Wounded in Midnight Shooting at Anderson Gathering, Investigation Underway
Chaos erupted at a large gathering in Anderson just after the stroke of midnight, leaving several people with gunshot wounds and two in serious condition. According to the Anderson Police Department, officers responded to reports of a crowd blocking the 2200 block of Arrow Avenue and engaging in a brawl that quickly escalated into gunfire, as described by FOX59. Noblesville High School hires swim coach
The Noblesville Swim Club and Noblesville High School jointly announced the hiring of Jess Preston as its new head swim coach July 16. Preston comes to Noblesville from Penn High School and Irish Aquatics in Mishawaka. He had been head coach of Penn’s boys and girls teams since 2008, leading them to multiple trips to the IHSAA State Swimming and Diving finals.
Fishers resident heads to Ironman World Championship
Fishers resident Kyle Gabbard has qualified to compete this fall in the annual Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The Ironman World Championship is a Hawaii-based competition that features “the very best male professional and age-group triathletes from around the world,” according to the organization. The competition, which attracts about 2,000 international competitors, is a combined 140.6-mile event that consists of swimming in Kailua Bay, biking along the coast and running through barren lava fields.
