The heat is back and storm chances will follow into the holiday
What a difference a day makes! We began the month of July on a very pleasant note with comfortable temperatures/humidity levels and just like flipping a switch, hot and humid air came rolling back into Central and Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday. With high pressure giving way and drifting into New England, a comfortable northeast wind was replaced by a southwest wind which pushed plenty of warm and moist air back into the region. Afternoon highs surged back into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees along with dewpoints back into the upper 60s and low 70s. This is much more typical of early July weather and the warmth and moisture will set the table for some active weather into Independence Day.
New Riff founder named to Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame
New Riff founder Ken Lewis is being inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. Lewis retired in March after a 50-year career in the beverage alcohol industry. In addition to founding New Riff, Lewis started The Party Source and drove legal and legislative changes to allow Sunday and credit card alcohol sales.

Michigan man convicted for fatal ambush during Facebook Marketplace meet up
LANSING, MI – A Wayne County jury has convicted a Michigan man who lured another man from Kentucky before fatally shooting him. Davontae Eshawn Long, 31, of Detroit was found guilty of felony murder, carjacking, felon in possession of a handgun and felony firearm on June 28, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced.
