MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — To honor the U.S. and Independence Day, the Monongalia Symphony Orchestra held a celebration on Tuesday at the Ruby McQuain Amphitheater in downtown Morgantown.

Alongside the orchestra was guest vocalist Anna Lama who joined the ensemble as they performed a wide selection of music ranging from The Star Spangled Banner to Selections From Chicago. The show was free and open to the public to attend.

The orchestra started in August of last year with the goal of providing accessible musical performances by local musicians to the community while encouraging the learning and understanding of music-making skills.

“We are so lucky to have donors who support us,” Lead Music Director and Conductor Shaun Hancher said. “We are always looking for more donors. So, if their mission aligns with ours, we would love for them to donate to the Monongalia Symphony Orchestra.”

Representatives of the orchestra said they love performing free concerts and the more donations they can get the more concerts they can provide. To learn more about the ensemble, click here.
