Man dead following Thursday morning shooting at apartments

MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been confirmed dead as the result of a shooting which reportedly occurred early Thursday morning at Mountain Valley Drive.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office , at approximately 1:42am on Thursday, July 11, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Mountain Valley Drive with regard to reports of a shooting .

Deputies located a male upon arriving at the scene who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. This individual was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment for his wounds but would soon be pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. The scene also saw response from Monongalia County Sheriff’s Detectives, Morgantown City Police Department members, and Mon EMS.

Law enforcement indicates that the Thursday morning incident appears to have been isolated in nature and to have occurred between two acquaintances.

Authorities have also requested that residents of Mountain Valley Drive residing near the 9000 building with any information or video pertinent to the investigation reach out to the sheriff’s office.
