MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — WVU Medicine Children’s has expanded its resources to help families of young children diagnosed with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS).

NAS is when an infant experiences drug dependence and drug withdrawal symptoms after birth, and it can cause long-term effects. The new NAS Follow-Up Clinic is available for families of children five and under to get assessments and guidance for their child with NAS on Wednesday afternoons.

At the WVU Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, families can get help with growth, development, nutrition, vision, dental, behavior, attachment and bonding, lactation, family planning, and more, according to a press release from WVU Medicine .
