SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — West Virginia State Police have confirmed that the person whose body was recovered from Summersville Lake Friday was a missing man from Morgantown.

The body was identified in a press release as 44-year-old Scott Saylor, of Morgantown. He was first reported missing by his family on Monday after he left for a trip on Sunday, July 14 and did not return.

Family members who reported him missing said that he told them he was going swimming, and a ping to Saylor’s phone showed him at the Summersville Lake beach. His vehicle was located and other belongings, including his phone and socks and shoes, were located on the beach.

Saylor was not found during initial searches in the swimming area by troopers, members of the Division of Natural Resources, search and rescue and the Army Corp of Engineers using boats and sonar and he was declared missing.

At 8:20 a.m. on Friday, Saylor’s body was found by a boater near the area where he was last seen swimming and then recovered by law enforcement.

An investigation is ongoing and Saylor’s body is being sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy, but according to the release, no foul play is suspected.
