    One dead after Morgantown shooting involving 19-year-old suspect

    MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 19-year-old man is being sought by authorities for his involvement in a shooting incident which led to the death of a 21-year-old man this month.

    According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office , on Thursday, July 11, 2024, Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at Mountain Valley Drive.

    Deputies located a victim upon arriving at the scene. This individual, identified as 21-year-old Rashad Malik Alton of Morgantown, had sustained a gunshot wound. He would be transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment for his wounds, but would ultimately pass away there as a result of the injuries.

    Detectives indicate that this is believed to have been an isolated incident between two acquaintances.

    An investigation identified the shooter as 19-year-old Arnold Johnson III of Montgomery Village. He is wanted by authorities for First-Degree-Murder and should be considered dangerous.

    Johnson is believed to have fled the state of West Virginia and could currently be in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC.
