Pat Narduzzi Shares Excitement With Extention Of Classic Rivalry Game

On the second day of the ACC Football Kickoff event in Charlotte, North Carolina, Pittsburgh Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi expressed his excitement about extending their rivalry series against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers and Panthers rivalry, known better as the "Backyard Brawl," was renewed two years ago after both programs did not face each other again since the 2011 season following the delusion of the Big East conference. The programs are scheduled to play each other this season and in five more instances between 2032.
The "Backyard Brawl" is not only one of college football's most colorful rivalries but also one of the oldest. The inaugural game was played in 1895 when the Mountaineers defeated the Panthers by an 8-0 score. The 106 all-time meetings are the most for either school against an opponent.
While the rivalry has produced some memorable games, few can top the consequential 2007 matchup, which saw the unranked and 28.5-point underdog Panthers upset the second-ranked Mountaineers, effectively costing West Virginia a presumed spot in the 2007 BCS National Championship game.
Pittsburgh will host West Virginia in this season's "Backyard Brawl" from Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 14 at 3:30 pm (ET).
