MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A judge handed down a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison on Monday to the accomplice charged in a 2022 murder in Monongalia County .

Arlo Romano, 42, of Morgantown, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Romano was involved in an incident where Cleotis Eppes, 48, of Harper Woods, MI, shot and killed Matthew Moore, 46, who owed money to Eppes for drugs.

Man charged after allegedly driving drunk with 7-year-old in car

Romano testified against Eppes during Eppes’ trial in March and confirmed that he was present when Eppes shot Moore, whom he described as “my friend.”

Eppes was convicted in March on counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy—charges that were also initially given to Romano but were later downgraded. Eppes was sentenced to life in prison twice.
