Fairmont State University has plans for nearly $7 million in congressional directed spending
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University will receive $6.89 million in federally directed spending to go towards three improvement projects. The offices of U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced that the university will receive Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) funds to support upgrades to the nursing program facilities, library renovations, and campus security system improvements.
Authorities arrest suspect in fatal Vienna shooting
VIENNA — A man was arrested Sunday in Harrison County for the murder of a woman in Vienna on Saturday, according to a press release from the Vienna Police Chief. At approximately 3:57 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, Vienna Police were dispatched to 1000 19th Street Apartment 6, Vienna for an unresponsive person, according to the release from Vienna Police Chief Carl Powell. Officers located a deceased female inside who suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. The individual was located by a family member who immediately contacted 9-1-1.
Italian Heritage Festival Announces 45th Annual Event Lineup led by Former Journey Singer Steve Augeri
The West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival will be holding its 45th annual event this coming Labor Day weekend on the streets of downtown Clarksburg. Recently, the Festival announced the lineup for the Main Stage, which is situated on the Harrison County Courthouse Plaza. As is always the case, the entertainment is free and there is no admission charge.
Area-Wide Rain Showers and Storms Return Tomorrow
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - As the area remains under drought conditions, partial relief is on the way in the form of showers and thunderstorms throughout the start of the week. Non-severe showers and storms arrive later in the morning tomorrow and will continue into the early afternoon. Showers remain in the mountains until late tomorrow, with conditions drying for most of the area on Tuesday. More rain chances are set to pick up throughout the middle to end of the week as a stationary front remains over NCWV for the week. Temperatures remain at or below average throughout the week as we hope to see improvements to our drought conditions over the next 2 weeks. Summer-like weather ahead of a rainy week
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - High pressure that has been giving us the summer-like weather and drought has cleared out allowing for a low pressure trough to build in. This will cause clouds to build in overnight which will keep lows in the mid 60s. The trough will cause much needed showers and storms to move into the area on Monday. Rainfall amounts will vary depending on where the showers go and how heavy the rainfall is but we will likely see about a quarter to half an inch of rain.
