Legion Baseball July 15
Below are summaries of local Legion games on July 15, compiled by Nick Tabatt Pierz struggles against Chutes The Pierz Legion baseball team had a tough battle on the road against the St. Cloud Chutes Monday, July 15, losing 9-2. The Pierz hitters with RBIs in the game were Kaden Kruschek and Bo Woitalla. Nate Solinger followed with two hits at the plate. On the mound, Max Barlclay pitched three innings, allowing five hits and no walks. Stuckmayer pitched for one inning, allowing one walk. Each threw two strikeouts. Kruschek pitched two innings, allowing four hits and no walks. Pierz had the hits and four errors in the game. The Chutes finished with two errors and nine hits.
Pierz shuts out Little Falls
The Pierz and Little Falls Legion baseball teams end the season with a face -off at Hellie Field Tuesday, July 16. Pierz shut out Little Falls 2-0. Pierz’ runs were scored by Nathan Solinger and Reese Young. RBIs were hit by Kaden Kruschek and Kyle Winscher. Chase Becker led the team on the mound, throwing seven strikeouts and allowed one walk. Young pitched one inning, throwing one strikeout. Little Falls’ Joey Welinski, Braxten Santela and Charlie Smieja all pitched on the mound, throwing a total of five strikeouts and allowed three hits. At the plate, Alex Thoma went 2-3 with a double. Welinski followed with a single. Pierz finished the game with two errors and Little Falls ended up with none. Both teams had three hits. Postseason for both teams will start Monday, July 29.
Football schedules released for the 2024 season
Despite Fall still being a couple months away the football season is just above the horizon. As everyone waits to watch their favorite teams on the gridiron, the the Little Falls Flyers and Pierz Pioneers have released their 2024 football schedules. As the first leg starter of a two-time state participating Royalton Royals girls 4x100 relay team, Claire Prokott knows that timing and teamwork are everything, when competing in a relay event. The team had three girls returning from the previous year, but had an open spot, which was filled by Hailie Wolbeck. Possession charges dismissed for Winkelman
One felony charge of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance was dismissed against Jodi Marie Winkelman in Morrison County District Court. The charge stemmed from a Dec. 15, 2023 incident. The charges were dismissed because there was insufficient evidence to prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt, according to County Attorney Brian Middendorf.
Morrison County District Court felony dispositions
The following people charged with a felony in Morrison County District Court have recently been sentenced: • Shaun Michael-Scott Field, 39, Faribault (offense: 2/14/23) — Fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, fined $135 and sentenced to 21 months in a correctional facility. • Ryan Shawn Peterschick, 38, Royalton (offense: 2/22/24) — Fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, fined $200 and sentenced to 21 days in jail and supervised probation for five years.
Morrison County District Court felony charge filed
Morrison County Attorney Brian Middendorf and his staff have filed a felony complaint against the following individual: • Jacqueline Mary Christensen, 59, St. Cloud — In connection with a July 5 incident, Christensen was charged with one felony count of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and one gross misdemeanor count of DWI.
Mays convicted on gross misdemeanor assault charge
Michael Donzel Mays, 34, Little Falls, was sentenced in Morrison County District Court to 30 days in local confinement with sentence to serve and work release granted as approved by the sheriff and jail and supervised probation for two years and fined $660 for one gross misdemeanor count of a subsequent violation of assault. One felony count of assault by strangulation was dismissed. Major wastewater treatment plant renovation approved
In a significant move to modernize and improve its aging wastewater infrastructure, the Randall City Council approved an addendum to its agreement with engineering firm Widseth to undertake a comprehensive renovation of the Randall wastewater treatment plant at its Wednesday, July 10 meeting. Morrison County considers temporary ban on cannabis businesses
The Morrison County Board of Commissioners is considering a temporary moratorium on the establishment of cannabis businesses within the county until Jan. 1, 2025. The proposed moratorium would give the county time to develop local regulations and ordinances to govern the sale and distribution of cannabis products.
