Pro lacrosse check-in: How did Northwestern alums fare in week one of Athletes Unlimited?
The collegiate careers of some Northwestern lacrosse greats may be over, but thanks to Athletes Unlimited, their playing careers are not. Athletes Unlimited is an organization that has professional women’s sports leagues in basketball, softball, volleyball and lacrosse. In its fourth season, it is now the longest-lasting pro women’s lacrosse league in history. The five-week league has a unique format — the competition is between individuals rather than teams, which get re-selected each week by different team captains. Players earn points for recording wins, game MVP honors and different statistics. At the end of the season, top points earners will receive monetary rewards.

Gunfire coming from Englewood alley kills man, wounds another
CHICAGO - A man was killed and another was wounded after they were shot from an alley Tuesday night in the Englewood neighborhood. The two men were standing in the street around 1 a.m. when people in the alley started shooting in the 6300 block of South Carpenterville Street, according to Chicago police.
