Moscow Board Does not Have a Quorum for the Fourth Time
The City of Moscow called a special called meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, to discuss two resolutions. Present were Mayor Brenda Mitchell, Vice-Mayor Tony Kennon, and Alderman Tiffany Johnson, along with city attorney Tom Minor. Absent were Mary Hodge, Maxine Griggs, and Lamika Hurt. This was not enough for a quorum and is the fourth straight meeting without one. City business has not been conducted the last four meetings. The two resolutions were #24-072401 to accept the resignation of Alderman Billy Tice and declare an alderman vacancy on the board. The second resolution #24-072402 was to request the Fayette County Election Commission to call an election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Positions open are Mayor and 3 alderman who were elected in 2020. Other cities in the county called for their elections much earlier. After waiting about 8 minutes, Mayor Mitchell stated this meeting will be delayed and continued later.
Collierville Residents Brace for Higher Utility Bills Due to Meter Reading Errors, Town Announces Switch to Automatic Meters
Residents of Collierville are facing a hike in their utility bills due to errors in meter readings, a mishap the Town of Collierville attributes to a former employee who has since been terminated. According to WREG, the issues steamed from the period of May through June when an employee, either due to not performing the readings or recording incorrect data, compromised the billing accuracy. This employee was dismissed on July 11.
