Man accused of stabbing Mosinee police officer avoids jury trial during plea agreement
MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) - A 41-year-old man accused of stabbing a Mosinee police officer has agreed to the terms of a plea agreement and will avoid a jury trial. Randy Beardsley pleaded no contest on Tuesday to battery to a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. In exchange for the pleas, a count of substantial battery was dismissed but will be considered during his sentencing hearing.
Wisconsin fugitive wanted for 30 years arrested in West Des Moines
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — A fugitive wanted for three decades out of Wisconsin was captured in West Des Moines last week. West Des Moines Police arrested George Hartleroad on June 26. He was homeless and living near the Valley Junction area. Court records show officers stopped him for having no rear reflector on his bicycle.

NECEDAH, Wis. — A house fire in Wisconsin claimed the lives of six family members Monday, and investigators said early indications are that the blaze was accidental. Emergency responders were called to a house fire in the community of Necedah around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release posted Monday on the Juneau County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Fire crews and deputies arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. They encountered multiple people standing in the driveway who had escaped the flames and said others inside were unaccounted for.
On bond for 7th OWI, Wausau-area man arrested again after traffic stop
A Kronenwetter man out on bond for a charge of seventh-offense drunken driving is facing yet another OWI after a traffic stop in Wausau, court records show. Lee P. Simon, 57, was arrested just before 3 p.m. June 26 after he was stopped for making an illegal turn on the corner of Stewart Avenue and First Avenue in Wausau. A Wausau Police officer pulled Simon over after he allegedly made a right turn onto Stewart Avenue while the traffic light was red. That intersection has a “no right turn on red” restriction.

WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. - A Milwaukee man was arrested after a high-speed pursuit from Walworth County into Rock County that ended with a crash on Sunday, June 30. According to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, deputies stopped a vehicle for unlawful window tint and having no front license plate. STEVENS POINT – Officials are looking for a Portage County Jail inmate after he did not return after a three-hour furlough Friday. Matthew J. Garsomke was released for a three-hour furlough at 10:30 a.m. Friday. He was due to report back to the jail at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, but Garsomke did not return, according to a news release from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
