FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Cooling showers a little more likely Wednesday, but dangerous heat still possible
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Tuesday was a very hot day with heat indices exceeding 115 degrees in some areas! And Wednesday will not be much different. Upper level high pressure will remain parked over our area for a few more days, this is what causes the heat to be an issue. Morning lows will only drop into the upper 70s to near 80 degree range while afternoon highs climb into the low to mid 90s. That may not sound too terrible, but when combined with dewpoints in the mid to upper 70s we get heat indices between 108 to possibly above 115 degrees in the heart of the afternoon! Use extreme caution while doing anything outdoors and drink plenty of water along with taking frequent cooling breaks. We will likely see a few more cooling showers around the area, but away from them the heat is the primary concern again.
