Last month, Congress passed the Fire Grants and Safety Act, which reauthorizes the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant programs. They were set to expire in September but will now last through fiscal year 2028.
