Ride and Dine with Concerts in the Clouds of New Hampshire
The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is lucky to have a few concert venues which create a magnificent musical season for the entire region. BankNH Pavilion is the largest venue, located on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. But there are other music festivals in the area as well. One of...
Here Are the 3 Best Fireworks Displays in New Hampshire
Live Free or Die, Baby! Consumer fireworks are legal to purchase and use on private property in the State of New Hampshire, but the rule doesn't apply to all cities and towns, according to newhampshirebullein.com. However, it wouldn't be a 4th of July celebration without fireworks. If you're looking for...
Mowing Your Lawn at These Hours is Illegal in Maine and New Hampshire
Last weekend, I was up and ready to start my Sunday at 6:30 am., which doesn't happen often. I looked at my wife and said, "It's too early to mow the lawn, right?" The obvious answer was yes, it was far too early. But that got me thinking. As a...

A recent study from the Union of Concerned Scientists shows as sea levels rise, pieces of critical infrastructure in New Hampshire could be threatened by flooding from the ocean on a regular basis. In a medium sea level rise scenario, where the ocean rises about 3.2 feet, a fire station...
This New Hampshire City Will Send You a ‘Judgy’ Letter if Your Grass is Overgrown
If you let the grass get too overgrown on your lawn, the city will intervene, depending on where you live. Were you aware this is a thing? I always thought that once you buy a piece of land, it's yours, and you can choose to maintain (or not maintain) your property however you see fit.
Sununu urged to veto NH bills affecting transgender people
Just after Gov. Chris Sununu signed a bill in 2018 to add gender identity to the list of New Hampshire's anti-discrimination laws, Linds Jakows approached him after the signing ceremony and told him thank you. “And he said very simply, ‘Oh, it’s just the right thing to do,’” Jakows, an...
Meet the collector behind Portsmouth Athenaeum's NH primary exhibit
It was the dashboard dolls that did it. A circa-1964 set depicting candidates President Lyndon B. Johnson and Sen. Barry Goldwater put Durham attorney Susan Roman on the path of collecting political memorabilia at a young age. The dashboard dolls were a gift from her uncle, and are on display...
Hillary Seeger: Keep responsible Mike Bordes as representative in Concord
A few years ago, a pastor in Sanbornton wrote to the Laconia delegation regarding parishioners who were being evicted from their homes. The only member of the delegation to respond and assist was Mike Bordes. When the old apartment buildings were torn down in Lakeport, the only representative to get involved to find alternative housing for those affected was Mike Bordes. Mike works a full-time job and still manages to be a responsive and caring representative for Belknap County and Laconia. He lives a modest middle-class life and he’s fortunate enough to have worked hard through the years so he can afford a boat. While he does enjoy a beer or two, I’ve never seen him overindulge. I’ve been at events where Mike has a beer in his hand the whole time because it’s one beer. Since his mom is not here to defend him and he’s decided to take the high road and ignore the libelous rhetoric being slung about by a political opponent, I will step in here and encourage voters to keep a responsible young man like Mike Bordes as representative in Concord.
