Minnesotans eagerly anticipate warm summer nights all year long, and what better way to spend them than enjoying local music with friends and neighbors?

The Northwest Tonka Lions, Mound-Westonka Rotary Club, the City of Mound, and Westonka Community Education are proud to sponsor monthly a Music in the Park summer concert series at Surfside Park.

The series kicked off on June 13 with Chris Kelly Live and the opening of the Eli Hart Memorial Playground, following the completion of a community build event. Yard games and a food truck rounded out the event.

“It was a beautiful summer evening,” said Scott Lhotka, director of Westonka Community Education. “It’s a true community effort to make these events happen and it’s great to see people of all ages enjoying the park.”

The next Music in the Park concert, featuring The Pan-handlers Steel Drum Band, will take place on July 11 from 6-8 p.m. Attendees can savor delicious offerings from El Jefe’s Taco Truck, Adventure Bowls, and an ice cream truck while enjoying the music. Additionally, the Northwest Tonka Lions will be hosting a concession stand.

The series will conclude on Aug. 8 with a performance by headliner Pandora’s Other Box from 6-8 p.m. Food truck options for the evening will include the Lookout Bar and Grill and Nautical Bowls along with the Lions’ concession stand.
