Accidental shooting in Parsons leaves one in critical condition
PARSONS, Kan. (KOAM) - An accidental shooting early morning on July 25, 2024 has left one man in critical condition and another in police custody. The incident occurred at Prairie West Apartments on the 3600 block of Chess Avenue.
Arrest Made in Coffeyville Murder
A Neodesha man is arrested in a murder investigation in Coffeyville. 41-year-old Ryan J. McCullough has been taken into custody for the charge of murder in the second degree. On May 5th, McCullough was involved in an altercation with the victim, 63-year-old David L. Wintjen, who passed a few days later. After an investigation by the Coffeyville Police Department, a warrant was issued for McCullough’s arrest.
Parsons Police To Host Community Forum
The Parsons Police Department is hosting a community forum on Tuesday night at the Parsons High School Theater. Parsons residents are invited to learn more about their police department at this event. The forum will be moderated by Police2Peace.org. That group is providing funding to train members of the Parsons Police Department in techniques in de-escalation and outreach in an effort to increase two-way communication between police and the public. Police2Peace is funded through the U.S. Department of Justice.
Kansas man arrested for having meth, invalid driver's license
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Kan. — Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) arrested Codaniel Jones of Independence, Kansas, after deputies found meth and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Wednesday morning.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest
An Independence man is arrested on a number of charges after a traffic stop. At around 9:45am, Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2005 Toyota van at the intersection of 10th and Oak Street in Independence. The driver was identified as Codaniel Jones, who wasn't in possession of a valid driver's license. During the stop, Police Service Dog Sancho was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle. PSD Sancho alerted deputies to the presence of illegal drugs.
