    Police release name of man that drove at a high rate of speed into the wall of the West Virginia Penitentiary

    UPDATE: Moundsville Police Chief says the name of the person that died was 42-year-old Vince Miceli.

    MOUNDSVILLE, WV ( WTRF ) Officials are saying a man is dead after he drove at a high rate of speed into the wall of West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia.

    The crash came in around 8 am on Tuesday according to police.

    Police say the man was driving a duel wheel 1-ton King Cab Dodge Ram pickup truck at a high rate of speed without hitting the brakes when he crashed into the prison wall.

    The man died instantly, according to police.

    Police say the the impact of the truck was massive that debris from the truck went over the prison wall. Officials also say the prison wall is damaged, even though it’s 8 feet thick.

    The damage was so powerful that it also broke the axel off the vehicle.

    No one else was injured during the crash.

    Police say the man is from Florida but was originally from the Cameron, Marshall County WV area. A name has not been given at this time.

    Police say the crash is still under investigation, stick with 7News for updates.
