MOUNDSVILLE, WV ( WTRF ) – A man has died after the vehicle he was driving struck the wall of the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville West Virginia.

Police say the call regarding the crash came in around 8 a.m. Tuesday. According to authorities, the man was driving a duel-wheel one-ton King Cab Dodge Ram pickup truck at a high rate of speed without hitting the brakes when he crashed into the prison wall.

The man died instantly, according to police. Authorities have identified him as 42-year-old Vince Miceli. According to police, Miceli was living in Florida but was originally from the Cameron area in Marshall County, West Virginia.

No one else was injured during the crash.

Police say the impact of the crash sent debris from the truck over the prison wall and broke off the vehicle’s axle. Officials also say the prison wall did sustain some damage, despite being eight feet thick.

Police say the crash is still under investigation.
