    • Hundreds of dollars’ worth of tools were stolen Monday at a local business, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports.

    This involved the break-in of a 2010 Nissan Titan pickup at 89 Service Center on West Pine Street, with Ben Andrew Taylor, a Kernersville resident associated with Mabe Steel Inc. there, listed as the victim.

    Milwaukee, Klutch and Mac Tools products with a total value of $1,170 were taken.

    • Food Lion on West Lebanon Street was the scene of a larceny Sunday, when three packages of unspecified medication valued at $30 were stolen by an unknown suspect.

    • Josiah Enrique Johnson, 22, of 227 Quail Trail, was charged with assault and battery on April 26, with a fellow employee of Walmart, Valerie Ousmane, listed as the victim.

    Johnson was held in the Surry County Jail without privilege of bond and is facing a May 16 appearance in District Court.

    • Corey Jacob Hawks, 37, of 1343 Pipers Gap Road, was jailed without bond on domestic-violence-related charges including false imprisonment and assault on a female after an April 23 encounter with police at the local probation office.

    They served him with warrants in the case which had been issued the day before through the Surry County Sheriff’s Office.

    The victim is listed as Ariel Leighanne Hoover of Pipers Gap Road, with Hawks scheduled to be in Surry District Court on May 16.
