    • A man listed as a homeless Mount Airy resident was jailed under a $45,000 secured bond in the early morning hours Monday after allegedly breaking into vehicles at Rockford Street businesses, according to city police reports.

An investigation revealed that James Gregory Cecil, 47, had entered autos at both Walmart and Circle K nearby, leading to two counts of breaking and entering being filed.

Officers also discovered an outstanding arrest order on Cecil for failing to appear in court in Forsyth County which had been issued on April 11. He is facing a May 29 appearance in Surry District Court.

    • A hit-and-run incident Sunday resulted in a long list of charges against Schyler Scott Gossett, 28, of 332 Eleanor Ave.

After being involved in a motor vehicle crash and allegedly fleeing, Gossett — the operator of a 1998 Ford Explorer — was arrested on Merita Street near where it happened, police records say.

In addition to failing to stop at the scene of a crash involving property damage, Gossett is accused of carrying a concealed weapon (listed in the category of club/blackjack/brass knuckles), driving a vehicle without registration, driving while license revoked, operating a vehicle without insurance and displaying a fictitious registration plate.

Gossett is scheduled to be in District Court on June 10.

    • A bucket of change was stolen from the Snowhill Drive home of Kissy Victoria Mosley on April 27, when it was removed from the front porch. Miscellaneous coins with an estimated total value of $80 were involved.

    • Donovan Dawann “Skoota” Garner, 36, of 5453 Haystack Road, Dobson, was incarcerated under a $75,000 secured bond on felony drug and other charges after an April 25 traffic stop of a 2010 Hyundai Genesis at Cook Out on Rockford Street.

In addition to being found with controlled substances, Garner was in possession of a pair of firearms while a convicted felon, police records state, resulting in two counts of that felony violation along with another of possessing a Schedule I controlled substance.

He also is charged with possession of marijuana, possessing drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. The case is set for the June 10 session of District Court.
