As the sun started to go down and the hot temperatures of the weekend ebbed ever so slightly, folks gathered for the Summer Concert Series at the Blackmon Amphitheatre in downtown Mount Airy Saturday evening.

There was room to relax as some people opted to find a spot under a willow tree, while others sat on the patio at the Arts Center looking down on the stage, and others decided to shake a leg right down in front of the band.

The Entertainers were living up to their name as toes, it can be confirmed, we seen tapping and a few folks were spotted singing along to ‘Sara Smile’ from Hall and Oates. The band rattled through songs the crowd seemed familiar with and a jovial atmosphere was in the air.

It appeared to be another fun show, just what the Surry Arts Council had in mind for the summer series. It was the third concert of the weekend, coming on the heels of two shows on Thursday and Friday.

This week arts council will do it all again and host Main Event Band on Thursday, June 27, followed by The Extraordinaires on Friday, and Phatt City on Saturday — all shows start at 7:30 p.m. and are $17. Season passes are available from the Arts Council online or by phone at 336.786.7998. The cost is $160 and is good for all 2024 summer series concerts at the Blackmon Amphitheatre.
