    • A Mount Airy man was jailed without privilege of bond Monday after allegedly holding a knife blade to his girlfriend’s face, according to city police reports.

    Mitchell James Huneycutt, 43, of 467 W. Pine St., is charged with assault with a deadly weapon regarding the domestic incident at his residence in which Rachelle Jennifer Wallace of Anderson, South Carolina, is listed as the victim.

    Huneycutt is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 22.

    • Property with a total value of $1,350, along with a checkbook, financial card and Social Security card, was stolen last Saturday from two vehicles at the 13 Bones restaurant on South Andy Griffith Parkway.

    Taken were an Apple iPhone cell phone, a gold ring with a diamond cluster, a Coach purse and one other purse, miscellaneous makeup items and keys including a truck key.

    The crime targeted a 2018 Ford Escape owned by Linda Sue Smith of Carthage and the 2021 Toyota Highlander of Betty Joe Rose from Lewisburg, West Virginia.

    • Justin Wyatt Woodall, 42, of 1366 Mitchell Road, Claudville, Virginia, was incarcerated under a $2,500 secured bond on June 20 after officers went to Northern Regional Hospital to serve an outstanding arrest order on him for failing to appear in court.

    During that encounter, Woodall was found with a Schedule II controlled substance, resulting in a felony possession charge, and also is accused of possessing drug paraphernalia.

    Woodall is facing a July 15 court date. As previously reported, he had been taken to the hospital due to an overdose incident that was accompanied by an earlier charge of driving while impaired.

    • A vehicle was stolen on June 19 from Granite City Heating and Air on North South Street, with an employee there, Earl Brent Martin of The Hollow Road in Ararat, Virginia, listed as the victim.

    A known suspect is said to have broken a window on the driver’s-side door of the 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup and drove away with the vehicle valued at $5,000.

    • Keenan Antonio Tayshawn Goodwin, 26, of 208 Long St., was jailed on felony drug charges as the result of a June 19 traffic stop on West Independence Boulevard near Frederick Street.

    Goodwin is accused of possessing a Schedule VI controlled substance with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and possession of methamphetamine, along with possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing marijuana paraphernalia.

    He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $3,500 secured bond and is slated for a July 29 appearance in District Court.

    (Charges previously were reported against Laiken Nichole Lewis in connection with the same arrest.)

    • Beer was a theft target at Food Lion on South Andy Griffith Parkway, which police learned of on June 19.

    It involved a known suspect taking a 15-pack of Keystone in 12-ounce cans and Natural Light in a three-pack of 25-ounce cans, valued altogether at $15.
