    • A Virginia woman was jailed under a $250,000 secured bond Saturday on methamphetamine-trafficking and other drug felonies, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports.

    Amber Hope Hill, 38, of 2698 Old Pipers Gap Road, Cana, Virginia, was encountered by city officers in the parking lot of the Surry Plaza shopping center on West Pine Street and allegedly found with multiple controlled substances.

    She is accused of five felony charges: three counts of trafficking in methamphetamine; possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver; and maintaining a drug vehicle/dwelling place.

    Hill also was charged with having no insurance and no operator’s license, displaying an expired registration plate, possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing of marijuana paraphernalia.

    She was scheduled to appear in Surry District Court Monday.

    • Billy Jackson Ledford III, of 306 Hunter Drive, was jailed without privilege of bond early last Friday on three counts of violating a domestic violence protective order, simple assault and two counts of second-degree trespassing.

    Billy Jackson Ledford Jr. is listed as the victim in the case, for which the younger Ledford is scheduled to appear in District Court on Aug. 19.

    • Frances Smith Poston, 68, of 1708 Pittman St., was charged with driving while impaired on July 10 after police investigated a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Worth and Newsome streets.

    Smith was incarcerated under a $500 secured bond and is facing an Aug. 2 District Court appearance.

    • A Pilot Mountain woman is accused of felony possession of cocaine and other drug violations resulting from a July 5 traffic stop in Mount Airy.

    Samantha Lynn Keen, 29, of 3073 Old Westfield Road, was arrested on U.S. 52 at Bluemont Road and in addition to possession of cocaine was charged with possessing up to a half-ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

    Keen was held in the Surry County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond and was slated to be in District Court Monday.
