City Planning, Black Planners Recognized: Both departments win American Planning Association Awards of Excellence
Los Angeles City Planning (LACP) and Black Planners of LA (BPLA) received the American Planning Association Awards of Excellence. LACP received this for its work in public outreach and the Citywide Housing Incentive Program (CHIP). They received another award for comprehensive planning with their Downtown Community Plan. The BPLA received an award for advancing diversity and social change, in honor of Paul Davidoff, a famous New York city planner.
Sizzle and Spice: Inaugural Asada Fest makes its way to DTLA
Coming to Downtown LA is the Northgate González Market inaugural Asada Fest from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Rolling Greens DTLA. The Asada Fest will feature famous Latino chefs like former “Top Chef” contestant Claudette Zepeda, Michelin-starred chef Javier Plascencia, Yesenia Rios from Tijuana’s Culinary Arts School and chef Daniel Castillo of Heritage Barbecue. Joining these top-tier chefs are Nereida Vejar, a traditional, Sonora, Mexico-based chef, known for her appearance in the Netflix series “Taco Chronicles,” and social media chef sensation Robegrill.

Family of 5 on bikes injured in hit-and-run crash in Garden Grove
Police are searching for a driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash that injured a family of five - including three children - in Garden Grove.It happened Sunday just after 7:30 p.m. near Haster Street and Twintree Lane.According to investigators, two adults were riding bicycles with the children in carts.Orange County Fire Authority Captain Greg Barta said one child was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The two adults and the two other children are reportedly in stable condition.Details on how exactly the crash occurred and information on the driver involved were not immediately released by police, but surveillance video obtained by Eyewitness News shows the moment before the collision.You can see a black car going down the street before the crash. A man who lives across the street told ABC7 he immediately rushed to help the victims.Video taken after the crash shows the mangled bicycles in the middle of the street. The witness said the driver fled the scene in what appeared to be a black Toyota Camry.Police are still conducting their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.

LOS ANGELES, CA.- Marian Goodman Gallery Los Angeles announced the first solo exhibition of Korean-German artist Jongsuk Yoon in the United States. Born in South Korea in 1965, Yoon relocated to Europe in the early 1990s to study art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under German conceptual artist Fritz Schwegler. After her studies, she settled in Düsseldorf and focused her practice on drawings and paintings that hover in the space between figuration and abstraction. In works on paper, canvas, as well as directly on walls, Yoon creates charged and dreamlike color field landscapes that reflect her interests in both European and American Modernism and East Asian traditions.

The FBI is searching for a woman accused of robbing a Bank of America branch in Gardena.On May 31, a female suspect attempted to rob a Bank of America at 118 W Rosecrans Avenue in #Gardena. After passing a demand note, she was seen leaving the bank in a white sedan.
