For the first time in six years, Los Angeles has seen a decline in homelessness, signaling validation of focused and coordinated efforts to address the crisis. On June 28, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority released the results of the 2024 Point-in-Time Count, an annual census of unhoused people. Overall homelessness is down and there was a significant drop in the number of people living on the streets.

City Planning, Black Planners Recognized: Both departments win American Planning Association Awards of Excellence
Los Angeles City Planning (LACP) and Black Planners of LA (BPLA) received the American Planning Association Awards of Excellence. A DUI suspect was arrested in a hit-and-run crash that injured a family of five - including three children - in Garden Grove.It happened Sunday just after 7:30 p.m. near Haster Street and Twintree Lane.
