After nearly 50 years, this Rome trail loop is officially open
A plan that began nearly 50 years ago reached fruition earlier this month with the official opening of the most recent section of the Mount Berry Trail. The 6.5-mile loop now has signage naming it the AdventHealth Redmond ECO Greenway and is part of almost 15 miles of paved multi-use trails in Rome, Georgia.

Twin Brothers Build Foundations for Construction Careers at GNTC

The twins, Calhoun natives, said they have always been interested in construction and started classes in the Construction Management program at GNTC’s Gordon County Campus in Calhoun in fall 2023. ACC recommends small bar ordinance
The Rome Alcohol Control Commission has forwarded a recommendation to the full city commission to adopt a small bar ordinance. Currently, any establishment that sells liquor has to meet a 50-50 food-to-drink ratio, unless a variance is granted. There are only two establishments that have such a variance—Old Havana and Combat Market. The small bar ordinance would waive the food-to-drink ratio for certain establishments that meet certain guidelines.

Adairsville Mayor Appointed to Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
Gov. Brian Kemp announced Monday his appointment of Adairsville Mayor Kenneth Carson to serve on the state’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Carson has been mayor of Adairsville for almost 10 years and has been in law enforcement for over 36 years. He’s second in command at the City of Calhoun Police Department and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in February. He also serves as the District 1 representative on Georgia Municipal Association’s Municipal Training Board and on the GMA’s Legislative Policy Council. As mayor, Carson has served on the board of advisors for the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council for the Pickens and Rome regional police academies. Carson also serves his community as a member of the Kiwanis Club International, Adairsville Lions Club, and Lions Club International. He and his family reside in Adairsville.

Georgia Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing from Construction Company
A Rome, Georgia woman is accused of stealing around $110,000 – from a construction company over a period of 14 months. According to the arrest warrant 33-year old Rochelle Alexandria Vallejos converted and redirected the money meant for Brown Construction, into her own personal checking account. The transactions occurred between January 1st, 2023 and February 29th, 2024.
