Alabama executes man convicted of killing delivery driver during a 1998 robbery attempt
ATMORE, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man has been executed for the fatal shooting of a delivery driver during a 1998 robbery attempt. Sixty-four-year-old Keith Edmund Gavin received a chemical injection Thursday evening at a prison in southwest Alabama. Gavin was convicted of capital murder in the March 6, 1998, shooting death of William Clayton Jr. in the city of Centre. Prosecutors said Clayton had stopped for cash at an ATM to take his wife to dinner when he was targeted. It was the third execution in Alabama this year and came shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Gavin’s own handwritten request to block it from going forward.

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. - A suspected drug dealer is dead after a chase in Gordon County, according to the Gordon County Sheriff's Office. It happened on July 15, according to a post on social media. The sheriff's office says a deputy attempted to stop a Chevrolet Tahoe around 12 p.m. believed to have been involved in illegal drug distribution on State Route 53 in Calhoun.

Alabama is set to execute a man for the 1998 shooting death of a delivery driver during a robbery attempt near an ATM. Keith Edmund Gavin is scheduled to receive a lethal injection Thursday night at a prison in southwest Alabama. Gavin was convicted of capital murder in the March 6, 1998, shooting death of William Clayton Jr. in the city of Centre. Prosecutors said Clayton had stopped at the ATM to get money for dinner with his wife when he was targeted. If the lethal injection is carried out, it will be the 3rd execution in Alabama this year.
