FIREWORKS SAFETY REMINDERS
(OLNEY/NEWTON) With hundreds of fireworks displays planned for tomorrow night, on Independence Day 2024, all local and area residents are reminded about the dangers that are associated with fireworks. In fact, everyone is encouraged to simply attend a local or regional fireworks display, which will all be overseen and set off by those who have had training and those that are certified to do so. That’s the case with tomorrow night’s display sponsored by the City of Olney and the First National Bank in Olney, to be held starting at 9:00, in the Olney City Park, and set off by members of the Richland County Farm & Fair Association. Folks are urged to show up earlier as the Cummins Municipal Band will be in concert at the Band Shell starting at 7:30. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities.
WEDNESDAY WEATHER DISCUSSION (07/03/2024)
(OLNEY/NEWTON) As a cold front approaches our downstate area today, we’ll have plenty of clouds with a chance of mid-to-late afternoon showers or storms, but as the frontal system stalls out, we’ll turn dry until front moves again with rain chances by daybreak tomorrow morning. Our Independence Day tomorrow will be a bit cooler than normal, although that will be offset by very muggy dew points, plus our rain chances should end by afternoon and we should stay dry until late tomorrow night, after midnight. And after some lingering rain chances on Friday, we’ll have plenty of sunshine on both Saturday & Sunday. Stay tuned for updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more forecast details.
