Margaret L. 'Muggs' Steininger
Margaret L. “Muggs” Steininger, 83, of Vincennes, passed away June 27, 2024. She was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Vincennes, to the late Ray and Helen (Lane) McCrary. She attended Decker Chapel High School. Muggs married the love of her life, William “Bill” Steininger, on Dec. 19, 1970. She was a member of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church, the Bunco Card Club, and the Eastern Star for 50 years. She proudly worked for 36 years as a school bus driver for the South Knox School Corporation. Margaret also worked on and off for over 25 years at the Holiday Inn and Executive Inn as a waitress.

HARPER SPIRIT OF ’76 AWARD WINNER
The Vincennes Fourth of July Committee has announced that it will present the 2024 Spirit of ’76 award to Ellen Harper. Harper was nominated for her dedication, efforts and impact on the Vincennes community, particularly work on the transformation of Main Street in the downtown area. She will serve as the Grand Marshall of the July 4th parade and will then be presented the award following the parade Thursday in the dining room of the Harmony Club located at 111 North Second Street. The public is invited to attend.

OWENSVILLE — Sharon Knowles Deal, 75, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at her home in Owensville. She was born to James Oliver and Audrie (Rust) Knowles Nov. 28, 1948. She graduated from Owensville High School in 1966. She worked at the Owensville Convalescent Center, the Lakeview Truck Stop and at Holiday Foods in Fort Branch. She was a member Maumee General Baptist Church.
