Vincennes University Awarded $735K Career Coaching Grant to Aid Hoosier High School Students
Vincennes University has received a nearly $735 thousand career coaching grant from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. This funding will be used to help VU provide Hoosier high school students with extensive resources, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about their career and college paths. The Career Coaching Grant, established by the Indiana General Assembly during the 2023 legislative session, seeks to ensure that students possess the knowledge and support necessary to pursue high-demand careers in Indiana.

Apollo, a 2 1/2 year-old Siberian Husky, is the Vincennes Animal Shelter pet of the week. Apollo is good with other dogs, but would do best in a home without cats. He knows “sit,” “shake,” and “lay down" commands. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. During this month we served two search warrants on two different properties and made five arrests including charges of Dealing in Meth- amphetamine, Possession of Meth- amphetamine, Maintaining and Visiting a Common Nuisance and more. The other non related arrests included charges of Battery, Criminal Trespass, DUI, and Possession of Marijuana.
Ann Janet Addison
BELLEVUE, Nebraska Ann Janet Addison, 79, formerly of Vincennes, was born March 15, 1945, and died June 17, 2024. Ann, or Annie as loved ones called her, attended Lincoln High School of Vincennes and was a graduate of Indiana State University. She taught third and fourth grade over 30 years at Avery Elementary School. She was positive and energetic about teaching and served on many committees. "Ann could teach the phone book and make it sound interesting." She was a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader earning herself the Gold Award. She was involved in the Lewis and Clark Project, was an avid gardener, bird and nature enthusiast. Genealogy and family connection was of importance to her. Ann was married for 56 years and took pride in being a mother and grandmother.
Cub League crowns 2 champs
Rain delayed the start of Tuesday's championship games in the Senior Rookie and Junior Rookie League tournaments, but it wasn't near enough to dampen the celebrations. No. 1 Bauer Jewelers opened the evening at Joe Bilskie Sr. Field by avenging its only regular-season loss, downing No. 2 Homes Plumbing, 17-2, in five innings for the Junior Rookie League crown. The Senior Rookie final was a battle of the top two seeds as well, with No. 1 Mountain Dew also avenging its lone defeat by slipping past No. 2 Knights of Columbus, 7-4.

VINCENNES - Family, friends and officials in Vincennes gathered to celebrate and witness the ribbon cutting of Lou Fusz CJDR auto dealership of Vincennes on Tuesday. Randy Fusz, president CEO said that after purchasing the dealerships from the Watson family a few months back, they wanted to host a grand opening for the Vincennes location, making this their fourth location in the state.
Keep fireworks safety, statute in mind as July 4 approaches
Petersburg Fire Chief Ross Elmore wants to see everyone stay safe over the Fourth of July holiday weekend and shared the following information for our community:. Dates and TimesGenerally, state statute says fireworks may be discharged between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. any day except on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and New Years Eve. When the times are 9:00 a.m. to Midnight. Petersburg City Ordinance changed in 2023 to allow fireworks on July 1, 2, and 3, only and after 5:00 p.m. to two hours after sunset. On July 4, hours are 10:00 a.m. to Midnight.
