Norman Lewis Bishop, formerly of Raleigh
Norman Lewis Bishop, 93, a proud resident of Olney, passed away on June 15 after a life richly lived in service of his country and devotion to his family. Norman was born June 14, 1931, in Raleigh to Clive and Elizabeth Bishop (deceased). He often recounted fond memories from his childhood on his family’s farm, particularly those with his horse, High-toned Kentucky Rex. He graduated from Eldorado Township High School and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Grant Awards Given Out by WIN Energy REMC
He WIN Energy REMC Community Trust recently presented four Operation Round Up Program grants totaling over $16,000 to four area organizations. The Hymera Community Library in Sullivan County received over $4,100 to replace carpet in the library. Knox County Emergency Management received $2,500 to purchase cots for their emergency shelter.
Red Skelton Parade Staying with Skelton Comedy Convention
The annual Red Skelton Festival will be remade into the Red Skelton Comedy Convention this year. The event will be held on Saturday, July 20th. One part of the activity that will be the same is the annal Red Skelton Parade. Organizer Anne Pratt received approval to use the traditional downtown Vincennes Homecoming parade route that day for the annual Skelton parade. The parade will start at 12 noon on July 20th.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Advisory from 12 p.m. CT until 8 p.m. CT Tuesday for the entire Giant-FM listening area. The forecast is for heat index values of up to 105 degrees during those peak hours. These hot temperatures and high humidity outdoors could cause heat illnesses. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to early morning or late evening. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Stay out of the direct sunlight for lengthy periods. And take action if you see or feel symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke in yourself or someone else.
City council hears study update on city bus route
VINCENNES — Council members were provided with an update on the progress of a study being done to help provide Vincennes with a bus route system. Christy Campoll of RLS & Associates, who has been leading the current study, said she’s working closely with officials including Mayor Joe Yochum and VanGo to see if a transit route is possible through VanGo.
