A Mount Clemens attorney has been appointed to serve on Oakland County's 52-3 District Court bench by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

    Laura E.
    Polizzi
    , a partner at
    Polizzi
& Medley Law, litigates domestic, business, real estate, juvenile and criminal matters. She is bilingual and represents many Spanish speaking clients.

“I am truly honored to be appointed to the 52-3 District Court and thankful to the governor for this opportunity to serve the community that my family calls home,”
    Polizzi
said. “I am humbled by this opportunity, and I will work to ensure that all individuals are treated fairly, with respect, and equal access to justice.”

Polizzi, who lives in Rochester Hills with her family, sits on the boards of the Macomb County Bar Association and Macomb County Bar Foundation. Previously, she served as president of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan, Macomb Region. She is a representative in the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly, and sits on the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee.

Polizzi, who earned her law degree from Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School, has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Michigan Rising Star from 2018 through 2024.

Polizzi’s appointment fills a partial term following the resignation of Judge Julie A. Nicholson. Her term begins May 26, 2024, and expires on Jan. 1, 2025.

“I am proud to appoint Laura to the District Court in Oakland County,” said Governor Whitmer. “She brings a diverse range of experience and knowledge to the bench, and a strong commitment to serving as a role model for attorneys across Michigan. I am confident she will serve the people with distinction and uphold the rule of law.”
