Long, Bucks down Reds in game one of RCBL championship
BRIDGEWATER, Va. (WHSV) - Entering tonight, opposing hitters have been unable to crack Bridgewater pitcher of the year and MVP Chris Huffman. With a league-best 0.93 ERA and 88 strikeouts, the Clover Hill Bucks found a way to down Huffman and the Reds Sunday evening, taking Game 1 of the RCBL Championship Series 4-2.

No. 3 seed Clover Hill won game one of the Rockingham County Baseball League Championship Series Sunday night at top-seeded Bridgewater, 4-2. Bryce Suters, Alex Knicely and Drew Easter drove in one run each, while Reid Long earned the win on the mound. Long went 6.2 innings and he allowed one unearned run on eight hits, and he struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

BROADWAY, Va. (WHSV) - A 5-5 record doesn’t paint the full picture of Broadway’s 2023 season. Following a season-opening 28-27 loss to Fluvanna County and ending the season with a 17-14 loss to Harrisonburg, head coach Danny Grogg believes his team was just a few plays away from making the playoffs.
Quick hits from JMU football’s first week of preseason camp
With a work-in-progress scoreboard at Bridgeforth and hype music blaring to help simulate game noise, JMU football is back in full swing. The Dukes started preseason camp on Wednesday, during which they answered many questions about the team's chemistry with 58 new players. Ten of those additions arrived in the summer, and while there hasn't been a lot of time for everyone to get together, senior right guard Cole Potts said, “It's just like we’ve been there for each other for a whole year already.”

Quarterback Jamison “JT” Kitna enters his 2024 high school season uncommitted, but the class of 2025 Ohio prospect currently has his eyes firmly on JMU and UAB. He’s visited both programs this summer, his only two visits of the summer. Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, is leaning toward picking one of those programs despite originally committing to Houston and receiving interest from other Power Four programs. He won’t rule out joining a Power Conference program if they connect with him this fall and make a strong recruiting push, but he’s currently leaning toward the two Group of Five schools.

That month and a half spent in the city of Atlanta at the beginning of the 2024 season will feel like a distant memory for Georgia State by the time November 9th rolls around, but there will finally be light at the end of the tunnel as their fourth straight road game that day is going to be their final one before they return home the following week. Women’s Golf Unveils 2024-25 Schedule
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison women's golf team has unveiled its schedule for the 2024-25 season, Head Coach Tommy Baker announced on Friday afternoon. For the second straight season, the Dukes will begin their campaign in West Lafayette, Ind., at the Lady Boilermaker Classic (Sept. 2-3). After a week off, JMU will travel to Louisville, Ky., for the Cardinal Cup (Sept. 13-15), followed by the Cavalier Regional Preview (Sept. 23-24) at Virginia's Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va.
