Organizers again want to host 'Portville's Got Talent'
PORTVILLE — Tim Emley recalls several years ago, when the first edition of “Portville’s Got Talent” was staged, a large crowd cheering on the contestants. The event was a way for Portville to celebrate and appreciate talented young residents in the area, while also showcasing what was best about the town and village.
Bench Dedication at Shawmut Park
The Kreckel Family recently dedicated a bench at Shawmut Park in Downtown St. Marys in memory of Lavern Kreckel Jr., “TEX,” who was a longtime business owner in local industry. The bench was then presented to the City of St. Marys. Pictured from the city are Mayor Lyle Garner and city Manager Joe Fleming, along with Mary Kreckel, Vern Kreckel III, Sarah Reedy, Matthew Reedy, and Lauren Reedy. Missing from the photo are Annie and Scott Reedy and Tina Gradizzi. The bench was made by DuBrook Inc. of St. Marys. The plaque on the bench was made by Ashley Denio Studios and installed by Kennedy Signs. A special blessing of the bench was done by Father Tom Curry OSB and Father Ignatius Camello OSB of St. Marys Church. This is the first bench installed in the park, and anyone interested in purchasing a bench for the park should contact Gradizzi at city hall for more information. The Kreckel family wishes to thank everyone who helped with this project.
Man allegedly overdoses with child in car in parking lot of St. Marys Walmart
ST. MARYS — A man is facing charges after he was reportedly found unresponsive from a drug overdose in the Walmart Supercenter parking lot in St. Marys. State police in Ridgway have charged Joseph Michael Moro, 37, of Cheswick, with one count of endangering the welfare of children –parent/guardian/other commits offense, a felony in the third degree; one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance; and one misdemeanor count of the use/possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge Mark Jacob’s office July 8.

Five-alarm Fire on River Road in Warren
