Olean charter commission to stick with mayor-council system
OLEAN — The city charter commission will explore changes to the current government structure, rather than shifting many of the current mayoral powers to a city manager. The city’s charter commission voted 9-2 to continue using the current strong mayor-council type of government — rather than moving to a city manager-council form of government — as a basis while reviewing the city charter for reform, subject to revisions adopted by the panel in the course of its deliberations.
