(WNY News Now) – Allegany, NY – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Matthew J. Amore, 48, on a Violation of Probation Warrant. Matthew J. Amore was taken into custody on July 2, 2024, at approximately 2:30 PM at 171 W Main St, Allegany, NY. The arrest was executed by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, following a warrant for a probation violation under CPL 410.40.

Olson was detained by the Olean Police Department following a Child Protective Services (CPS) visit and subsequently handed over to the Sheriff’s Office.

GOELLER CHOSEN TO LEAD PITT-BRADFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE
The Pitt-Bradford athletics department has announced that Vic Goeller has been named the inaugural head coach of the university’s Women’s Lacrosse program. Goeller joins the Panthers from Wells College, where he posted a 21-20 record over three seasons with the Express. In three seasons at Wells, Goeller turned around the lacrosse program after the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the Express to a 16-1 season with an AMCC championship in 2024. Goeller has guided 10 student-athletes to all-conference selections, and this season had two players be named Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Year. He was also named 2024 AMCC Co-Coach of the Year.

The goal of the Wheel Throwing class is to provide students with a general understanding of basic beginner level throwing techniques such as centering, pulling walls, trimming, and glazing. Participants of the class will gain a broader understanding of wheel throwing and the stages of making a pot. Skill levels can include someone who has been working with clay for 30 years to someone who has never touched clay. We all have something to learn! If desired, bring your own aprons and hand towels.

Beryl barrels by Olean as clear weather on the way
OLEAN — An afternoon downpour was Olean’s taste of Beryl on Wednesday, the storm having traveled north and west of the region. The majority of the storm missed Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, passing across the Great Lakes and into Canada and the North Country. More than 6,000 National Grid customers in Chautauqua County were without power at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, mostly in the Dunkirk area, but the vast majority of the outages were restored before 1 p.m.
William Leonard
William “Bill” Leonard, 43, of Warren, PA., passed away unexpectedly at home on July 4, 2024. Bill was born on April 4, 1981 in Warren, PA to Dennis and Georgia Bish Leonard. He worked for a time as a security guard at the National Forge in Irvine. Bill was a huge part of his niece’s lives, Jaquie and Ashlee, as they were growing up. He loved to hangout with all of his friends. His hobbies were fishing, Xbox, concerts, fireworks and traveling to Indiana to his soul brother’s, Randall Bradley. Bill also loved Chinese food, as he would travel for hours just to try a new restaurant. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals and spending time with his dogs, Mocha and Rocky, but most of all, he loved spending time with his wife.
