    MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The Mount Laurel Police Department (MLPD) is welcoming its two new future officers.

    Robert De La Rionda and Anthony Bonczak were sworn-in as police recruits on July 8 and will begin their training at the Gloucester County Police Academy in August.

    The Gloucester County Police Academy consists of 4 months of rigorous training, including 70 hours of physical fitness training, 48 hours of firearms range training, 12 hours of MEB, 80 hours of defensive tactics and more than 250 of academic subjects, culminating in a graduation ceremony in December in which the new officers are assigned to units within their Police Departments.

    The Gloucester County Police Academy was established in 1988 and takes place at Rowan College South Jersey. The Academy has over 200 certified Police Training Commission instructors on its staff, as well as the services of many federal, state, county, and local agencies, assuring that training remains at its consistently high level.
