STEM careers are jobs in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math, with STEM professionals using their foundation in these subjects to solve problems, develop new ideas and conduct research and working in a variety of settings including offices, laboratories, research facilities, classrooms or out in the field.
The Library's Friday sessions will have a new focus every week. The July 26 session will focus on Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) using pandas and visualization libraries. Students will handle missing data and perform data pre-processing, learn about regular expressions for text processing, and cover basic statistical concepts essential for data analysis.
A laptop is recommended but not required. Paper and writing supplies will be provided for note-taking.
The Library will be hosting another STEM Aspire session on August 2 with the topic of machine learning, differentiating between supervised and unsupervised learning. Students will be introduced to Scikit-Learn and learn about data pre-processing for machine learning. The session also covers linear regression, including theory, implementation, and evaluation.
