    OBITUARY: Sondra Runions

    Sondra Runions, a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister, passed away on July 15, 2024, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee.

    Born on July 20, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, she was the second child and the oldest daughter of Floyd and Virginia Odom.

    Sondra’s nurturing nature made her the go-to person for her sisters, always ensuring they were well taken care of.

    A godly woman with a big and giving heart. She was a devoted Christian and member of College Place Church of Christ. Sondra was a self-taught seamstress who created beautiful pageant and wedding dresses. Her love for travel took her to many places, with Alaska, Hawaii, Smokey Mountains, and the beach being among her favorites. Above all, her five grandchildren were the center of her world.

    Sondra was married to Maybern Runions for 48 years, during which they built a beautiful life together.

    She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Dayne Odom, Marilyn Owen, and Stanley Odom; sisters-in-law: Rebecca Tomlin and Linda (James) Williams.

    She leaves behind her loving spouse, Maybern Runions; her sons, Rodney (Lorrie) Runions and Thad (Tiffany) Runions; and her cherished grandchildren, Chase Runions (Chloe Kennedy), Alexis Runions, Lauren Runions, Kadence Runions, and Maybree Runions. Sondra is also survived by her siblings, Lillie Chapman (Terry), Christy Rochester (Darryl), Lorey Davis (Danny), and Dorey Cupples (Danny); sisters-in-law: Viola Odom, Paula Odom, Roseanna Jones (Roger), and Janie Clark; brothers-in-law: Jackie Owen and Doyle Tomlin; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    A service to celebrate Sondra’s life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, with Terry Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Sondra will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens.

    Pallbearers for Sondra’s service will include Wayne Chapman, Ricky Frazier, Daniel Sexton, Daniel Davis, Chase Runions, Rodney Runions, Justin Cupples, and Tristen Sprague. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephew-in-laws and great-nephews.

    The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU nursing staff at Williamson Medical Center for their exceptional care of Mrs. Sondra.
