Euterpean Club meets

The Euterpean Club of Mount Pleasant gathered in the lovely home of Barbara P. Caldwell on Feb. 15 at 3:45 p.m. to enjoy a program of music titled, “Love, Love, Love.”

Caldwell was the most gracious co-hostess and all club members served as co-hostesses.

Mary Bishop, president, opened the meeting at 3:50 p.m.

Members present were Nancy Alexander, Frances Beck, Mary Jane Cannonn, Melba Spanna, Frances Standridge, Bishop and Caldwell.

Standrige, program director, presented the introduction to the program.

Caldwell performed a lovely vocal solo “Think Of Me,” from “Phantom of the Opera,” music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Charles Hart.

Bishop performed a beautiful piano solo “Till There Was You” from “The Music Man” composed by Meredith Wilson.

The ensemble performed “Goodnight My Someone,” from “The Music Man.”

Bishop performed a beautiful piano solo “Star Dust” music by Hoagy Carmichael and lyrics by Mitchell Parish.

Beck and Cannon perfomed a lovely piano duet “The Man I Love” music by George Gershwin and lyrics by Ira Gerswhin.

Frances Beck was the accompanist for all vocal performances.

The meeting was closed with members standing and reciting “The Music Collect.”

Refreshements consisting of quiche lorraine, strawberries with chocolate dipping sauce, spiced walnuts and earl grey tea shortbread cookies were served from a lovely “tea party” themed table. Beverages of hot earl grey tea was served from a beautiful silver serving service.
