Though Marvin jumpstarted the family down the ranching path, Priefert has spread into all kinds of businesses. Besides ranch and rodeo, Priefert has gone into the poultry industry, roping, and the production of wildlife-handling equipment. The current president, Eddie, said that looking back on the past 60 years is mind-blowing.

“I started working at Priefert when I was 18,” Eddie said. “I feel extremely proud. I think in 1992, there were about 75 to 100 employees. Today, we’re at a thousand employees. That’s an extreme amount of growth.”

When asked about following in the footsteps of his dad and grandad, Eddie expressed admiration for his predecessors, “At times, it’s a little overwhelming. They’re a lot to live up to, but I learned from them. I have an opportunity to add to what they built, so I’ve got a head start compared to what they had. As long as we keep looking for new markets and taking care of customers, doing things the way the Lord wants you to do them, it’s just gonna work out.”

From Nebraska to Texas, Priefert has come a long way– just like many Northeast Texans. Marvin’s grandsons Eddie, Nate, and Travis continue to carry the torch and Bill said, “God put us in Mount Pleasant, Texas to do exactly what we’re doing. We had a dream, didn’t know how to implement it, but you know what? We did as God told us.”

Now, looking forward to more successful years with Priefert, Eddie is optimistic for the future of the company.

“I hope for the future that we can keep the culture,” Eddie said. “What my grandfather started, his work ethic, what he did, how he did it with my dad– I want to carry that forward as Priefert grows.”

Priefert is an ever- growing company, not just across the nation, but across the globe. Eddie says they’re always hiring people with good attitudes and strong work ethic. They’re hoping more people can help lead the way for Priefert to another 60 years and more.
