• Local seniors awarded library scholarship

Four high school seniors were honored by the Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Public Library with a certificate and a check for $10,000. The seniors are Carter Alphin from Chapel Hill High School, Jarely Esguerra from Mt. Pleasant High School, Sarah Contreras from her family’s homeschool, and Fernanda Melendaz from Harts Bluff High School. The seniors were the second group of recipients of the Lori Rigney Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was put in place by the Friends of the Library group in memory of past director Lori Rigney, who passed away in 2022.
