Motorcyclist dies after June 12 crash

On June 12, at approximately 1:09 p.m., the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a vehicular crash at the intersection of W 16th (US 67) and Bill Ratliff.

The crash involved a motorcycle and a Jeep. Mount Pleasant Fire Department and TRMC EMS personnel arrived and treated the driver of the motorcycle for serious injuries sustained in the crash, but he died shortly after being transported to the hospital.

The crash is still being investigated, but at the scene witnesses stated the motorcyclist was driving southbound on Bill Ratliff and went through the red light at W 16th striking a Jeep that was driving eastbound through the intersection. The driver of the Jeep had minor injuries and was treated by TRMC EMS.
