Students present piano recital
The students of Cheryl Hoover Piano Studio presented a spring recital for family and friends in late April. The students performed before a full house at Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Selections included pop, Disney, blues, Broadway and classical. Plaques and performance certificates were presented after the program. Senior Avrey Weaverling was recognized and presented with gifts. Students and guests enjoyed light refreshments following the program. Off Pitt Street Theater Company, located at 110 W. Pitt St., Suite 2, Bedford, will host auditions for “Merry Wives of Windsor” at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 and 2 p.m. Aug. 4. WVU Governors Approve More Cuts To Academic Programs
The West Virginia University (WVU) Board of Governors voted to discontinue five academic programs at its regular meeting Friday. Chemistry, mathematics and aviation management will be cut from the offerings at the WVU Institute of Technology in Beckley, while majors in recreation, parks, and tourism resources and wood science and technology will be discontinued at Potomac State College in Keyser.

For the third straight year, the Erie SeaWolves are headed to the playoffs. The SeaWolves swept a doubleheader in Somerset, New Jersey, on Sunday. Albert “Al” Maglio, passed away peacefully on June 22 at his home in Somerset, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. Born on December 3, 1946, in Montclair, Al was the cherished son of the late Albert and Ada (Sullivan) Maglio. Raised in Bloomfield, he developed a strong sense of duty and commitment early on.
