Pair face charges in alleged indecent assault
Two individuals are facing charges stemming from an alleged indecent assault of a 10-year-old girl. Gabriel Lucas Martin, 18, and Kevin Riley Barton, 27, both of Bedford, were both implicated in the alleged incident that occurred behind the Bedford Elementary School on May 30.
Napoleonic weekend returns to Village
The Napoleonic Grand Tactique is back at Old Bedford Village with new and returning activities focusing on the Napoleonic era in America. “It was a transitional period in American history and the war did affect us here,” said David Petit of Old Bedford Village.The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, starting with optional military unit drills at 9:30.

Moonlight walks continue. Shawnee State Park’s moonlight walks return July 19. The moonlight walk around Shawnee Lake will begin at 9 p.m. at the beach entrance of the No. 2 parking lot. Dogs will be permitted. Bring flashlights. On July 21, the park will present “Old Time Thingumajigs” at 7 p.m. in the Historic & Interpretive Center at the main office. The Mayor and City Council of Cumberland will meet in public session beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room of the Allegany Museum (3 Pershing Street) on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, for the purpose of immediately closing the meeting to discuss Board and Commission Appointments. Second Annual Big Funky Blues Fest begins Saturday
MCHENRY — Garrett County’s second annual Big Funky Blues Festival will be held on Saturday, July 13, at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. If you order tickets in advance, the cost is $55 per person (ages 13+). This will include a full-day pass and the ability to see all eight bands as well as having access to the kids zone, game truck, face painting, balloons and magic, crafts and more. Kids aged 12 and under will be admitted for free. The gates will open at 10 a.m. and will run until 9 p.m.
