The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Excavating Associates, would like to notify the public that locations along Industrial Boulevard (near Virginia Avenue) and Virginia Avenue will be affected by overnight construction work on the week of Sunday, July 7th to Friday, July 11th and Sunday, July 14th to Thursday, July 18th between the hours of 8pm to 5am each day. Water customers along Industrial Boulevard and Virginia Avenue can expect temporary water outages during construction hours.

Mary Ann Platter, 73, of Levels, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2023. Born Oct. 22, 1950, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Francis J. Emerick and Theresa F. (Barrett) Emerick. Besides her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Marvin D. Platter; a brother, Melvin R. Emerick; and a sister, Doris I. Emerick.
Cecelia Mae Weller
Cecelia Mae Weller, 85, passed away on April 5, 2024, in Riverside, CA after previously residing in Hemet, CA for many years. Born on January 5, 1939, to Fred Arthur and Lillian Marie (Sullivan) Derencin. After graduating from Somerset High School in 1956, Cecelia married Ralph Edward Weller in 1957, and they welcomed their only child, son Timothy Lee, in 1958. The family moved to California in 1963. Cecelia was widowed by the loss of her beloved husband Ralph in 2013, and the family takes comfort in knowing that they are now reunited for eternity. A graveside service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery on July 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. The service will be conducted by Rev. Stephen Zirkle of the Somerset Nazarene Church.
